You have to pay to be a Windows 2000 beta tester; I'm sure they must charge for IE testing. They've got to make their money somehow. You're confusing two things. Microsoft offers beta software to "developers" participating in its developer program, which costs money. Apple does the same thing.

Today I did receive a email back from Microsoft saying I will soon receive a beta 2 kit in the mail. This is my first time beta testing, so I have no idea what to expect, any tips? I guess before I do anything, I need to maybe see if I can locate a backup PC to test this on because right now I just have one pc.
